Protecting him is my duty, but falling for him could be my undoing.

I’ve spent five years burying my past, leaving behind the violence and bloodshed of my former life as a Bratva enforcer. Now, I’m just Luca—the quiet guy who keeps his head down, working security for a professional hockey team. I don’t get close to anyone, and I definitely don’t let anyone get close to me.

But then I’m assigned to protect Max Ryan, the team’s star defenseman, and everything changes.

He’s my obsession. My crush.

Max is everything I shouldn’t want. Charismatic and stubborn, he’s got a knack for finding trouble, and now he’s got a target on his back. The last thing I need is to be drawn into his world, where old loyalties and deadly secrets collide with new, dangerous desires.

As much as I try to keep things professional, Max has a way of breaking through my defenses. But when a shadow from my past threatens to destroy him and everything I’ve built, I’ll do whatever it takes to keep him safe.

Even if it means confronting the darkness I thought I’d left behind—and risking everything, including my heart.

Deanna’s Review:

🏒Do you like hockey romance? 🩸Do you like the mafia? 🖤How about dark romance? My Pucking Crush checks all those boxes. I’d seen the cover for this book in my endless search for new books to add to my TBR – which continues to grow faster than I can cross books off it, but I digress. It wasn’t until I scrolled past Teddy Hamilton’s Instagram page and heard an excerpt from the book that it finally got my attention.

We have Max. Hockey God and captain of his team. He’s attacked and assigned personal security to ensure his safety so close to the playoffs. Enter Luca. He’s been working security for the team – and crushing on Max from afar – when he’s suddenly assigned to protect the object of his obsession. Oh yea, did I mention that Luca has to move in with Max?! Ahh! Who doesn’t love some forced proximity?

And while that’s the start of the story, that’s definitely not the whole story. I don’t want to spoil it for you, so I’ll just say there are some twists and turns that I didn’t see coming. If you’re up for this wild ride, check out My Pucking Crush by Tori Chase on KU. (I also highly recommend the audiobook, which is a duet narration by Joe Arden and Teddy Hamilton.)
