Meeting Callum for the first time while being crushed under a hundred pounds of sunflowers was somewhat awkward.
Seeing him flee to the other side of the country because of what he saw in my head was downright humiliating.
I can’t help but feel like my dad should have told me ahead of time that his girlfriend and her son had psychic abilities.
Four long years later and he’s back to watch our parents finally get married, and I’m still wondering what on earth he saw in my head that day.
I never thought going on a blind date would eventually bring the answers I was looking for…
Or that it would completely turn my life upside down…
Sunflower, the first book in The Agency series, features a young college student, unwittingly dropped into a world he knows nothing about, a psychic that seems to know far more than he’s letting on, and a romance that will be treated like the myths of old in the centuries to come.
Each book in The Agency series features a different couple with their own HEA in an overarching plotline. It is recommended to read the books in order for the most enjoyment.
Deanna’s Review: 5⭐️
Let me first say that I enjoyed this book. It was a little slow to start, but at about the 40% mark, it had its hooks in me, and I was locked in til the end. The paranormal element was nicely woven throughout the story, allowing me to fully immerse myself in the world.
With that said, because this book is classified as an MM romance, I was really hoping to have seen the development of the relationship between Joey and Callum. I can concede that there is a significant focus on the relationship, but with everything else that’s going on in the book, it sometimes feels secondary. (I’m not saying this is a bad thing; I’m just saying it’s a thing.) And I truly wish there was just more of Joey and Callum.
One thing that occasionally confused me – though it didn’t really pull me out of the story exactly – is some of the turns of phrase. The story itself takes place in the US, but there are so many turns of phrase that are very European that it occasionally confused my poor American brain. With all of that said, I really loved getting in on the ground floor, so to speak, with this series, and I really hope we get to see more of Joey and Callum in the next book or books.
Now, for a couple of favorite quotes:
“Barry! Barry! Our boys are f**king like Energizer bunnies!” – Hello, second-hand embarrassment.
“Thinking is evil. Words are sparkly.” – I’ll have what he had!!
