We went out to a bookstore yesterday, the oldest offspring and myself, because, well, books. It seems we were not the only ones with this idea because, boy, were the stores packed. Our first stop was Half Price Books. I love this store because you can find some real gems there. And boy, did I. I picked up a copy of The Pairing by Casey McQuiston with beautifully decorated pages. The other book I found, I snatched it off the shelf so fast people were looking at me like I was insane, was Nailed by K.M. Neuhold!

After leaving Half Price Books, we hit up a Barnes & Noble that was hopping like a nightclub in full swing! I figured out that not only was there an author event happening, but this was a local author, and you know how people get for someone who’s done something big and comes back home. I had a decent haul of books from there, but what really stuck with me was a conversation I had with another customer in the store.
We were talking about the author signing and I mentioned I hoped I could one day do the same when I finally get my first book published. We had a whole discussion about how queer romance is getting bigger every day and how it’s so important for kids to have someone that they can relate in their media, whether it be television or books. I’m nowhere near publication, but this beautiful soul thanked me for contributing to the inclusivity of this group. Her words really have lit a fire under me to keep moving forward.
Step one: finish the work in progress that I have. How do I do that? One scene at a time.
Toodles,
Deanna.
PS: If you’re wondering about the books I got from Barnes & Noble or who the author was doing the signing there, look no further.
